Easy Homemade Strawberry Jam

Homemade jam is the easiest and so delicious you won't buy store bought again

Ingredients

  • 500 gram strawberries cleaned and hulled
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  • Soak the strawberries in a few tablespoons of white vinegar for a few minutes. Clean and hull the strawberries. Place the strawberries and sugar into a pan and cook on high heat until it comes to a boil
  • Reduce the temperature to a medium low heat and add the lemon juice.
  • Cook the jam for about 20-30 minutes stirring occassionally. Use a masher to mash the strawberries.
  • Once the jam thickens, remove from heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes. It usually is ready when the top of the mixture fills with bubbles. There will also be no runny liquid
  • Pour into a jar and place the lid on and allow to cool at room temperature

Notes

  1. This recipe is for a chunky jam, if you want a smooth jam you need to blend your strawberries in a food processor before cooking them
