Chicken Gyro with Tsatsiki

Succulent chicken breasts marinated in greek yogurt and lemon

Ingredients

  • 500 gram chicken breasts 4 breasts
  • 3 tbsp greek yogurt
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1&1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
  • 2 large garlic clove minced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Tsatsiki

  • 1/2 cup greek yogurt
  • 1 small clove garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup grated cucumber
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • salt

Instructions

  • Cut the chicken breasts in half. Place them in a zip lock bag and use a meat mallet to flatten them
  • Place all the ingredients for the chicken in a zip lock bag, except the olive oil. Add the chicken breasts and mix well. Refrigerate for 1 hour
  • Heat the olive oil in a pan, do not let it smoke. Place the chicken breasts in the pan and fry both sides until brown. You can use a grill pan too. Cook half the chicken at a time, don't overcrowd the pan. Cook each side for about 2&1/2 minutes. This depends on how thick the chicken is.
  • Serve the chicken on pita bread or flatbread with the tsatsiki and a greek salad

Tsatsiki

  • Grate the cucumber and squeeze the excess liquid, use some paper towels
  • Place all the ingredients in a bowl and mix together

Notes

  1. You can use chicken thighs instead of breasts
  2. If you do not have greek yogurt you can use any plain yogurt
  3. This recipe can be doubled
